In a few schools so far… and lots on the hit list

With two library orders under my belt, Fingal and South Dublin, I went to Co Kildare to meet John Treacy of IES, book supplier to Ireland’s schools, primary and post-primary, libraries and local authorities.

Several people had told me they bought The Red-Letter Day to give to libraries in the schools their children attend, so I knew my magic adventure with its quirky 1916 finale was in Terenure and Donabate. As I landed in Co Kildare I recalled gifting a copy to Scoil Bhride in Naas just after publication, with a letter to principal Fiona O’Reilly. Hopefully the pupils there like The Red-Letter Day – please let me know if you do!

It was a really interesting visit to IES, and John certainly knows books inside and out. He gave me a tour of the stockrooms, crammed with everything from graphic novels to early-learning books to history to fantasy and beyond. John also gave really helpful advice to me as a new publisher. Oh, and he put in an order for 70 books. Thank you for everything, John.

I’d so appreciate it if you can ask your teacher or school librarian to buy a copy of The Red-Letter Day, seeing as it’s got everything from the Book of Kells to the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. This fast-paced Suitcases adventure leaps through centuries of history in a fun way… but don’t take my word for it, read it for yourself (and check out the REVIEWS)!
